“Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.” ~Henry Ford
My vision for Atlanta is to ensure that every community has equal access to all of the economic opportunities this great city has to offer. Our city has experienced tremendous growth over the past couple of years, but far too many residents find themselves on the opposite end of that growth. Atlanta’s greatest resource is its people. Atlanta will not prosper if its people cannot afford to live here. With your help, I will ensure that residents have a say in what is happening in their communities and prevent them from being displaced from their own homes.
As City Council President, I created four of the city’s ten Tax Allocation Districts (“TADs”) to bring revitalization to the Campbellton Rd, Howell/MLK, Metropolitan Parkway and the stadium neighborhoods to stimulate redevelopment in underserved communities. I fought for Community Benefits Agreements for the Beltline Project, the Atlanta Dome and Turner Field because I believe that developers must invest in the communities in which they choose to build.
