Ceasar Mitchell’s life is an intricate weave of values, hard work and experiences that have shaped the person he is today. Ceasar is a third generation Atlantan who has been actively serving the community for over 20 years. Since 2010, Ceasar has served as the 7th President of the Atlanta City Council where he presides over council meetings, makes council committee appointments, and would assume the role as mayor in the event of a vacancy. Prior to serving as Council President, Ceasar was elected to the Atlanta City Council as the Post 1 representative, a citywide position.
While a member of council, Ceasar chaired the Public Safety Committee, overseeing more than 50 percent of the city’s General Fund budget; the Community Development and Human Resources Committee, which oversees the economic development activities, and the City Utilities Committee. He is also a past member of the Atlanta Budget Commission, which authorizes the city’s annual revenue anticipation levels.
Outside of his service to the City Council, Ceasar is an attorney with the global law firm DLA Piper LLP, specializing in commercial real estate, project finance and public sector transactions. His experience as an attorney allows him to provide pristine strategy and leadership on critical policy matters while simultaneously promoting the interest of the City of Atlanta and the Atlanta City Council nationally.
